Ru/C catalyst converts biomass carbohydrates to biofuel. Graduate student Mr. Sudipta Developed a catalytic route for efficient conversion of cellulosic biomass to a promising next generation biofuel, 2,5-dimethylfuran via a one pot reaction using formic acid as hydrogen source and Ru/C catalysts. This work has recently accepted in ChemSusChem.
Aerobic Oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to aromatic docarboxylic acid. In collaboration with Professor Mahdi Abu-Omar, Purdue University, we investigated aerobic oxidation of cellulosic biomass derived HMF to 2,5- furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA). FDCA is a promising next generation polyester building block diacid can be produced from biorenewable resources. Read more…. |
