Biosketch:

 

Dr. Chirashree Ghosh, Scientist in the Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems obtained her Graduate, Masters and Ph.D degree in Aquatic toxicology from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, India. She has offered an University Post doctoral fellowship at the University of Wageningen, The Netherlands to work on the area of municipal waste management through non-conventional treatment process. She has also received prestigious DAAD fellowship and completed her graduate programme in the topic of ‘WATER” at the University of Applied Sciences, Suderburg, Germany in the year 2000. She is actively engaged in research, training and teaching programme in the field of Environmental Pollution and Animal Behaviour for more than 13 years now. She became Pool Officer (CSIR sponsored) in 1996 and offered two times Young Scientist position (1999 & 2003) by DST and was placed at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. She joined as Scientist at this Centre since 2003.

    Dr. Ghosh has been project Co-ordinator of several sponsored research projects in the above areas. She has supervised 4 MS students during her post doctoral study at Netherlands. She has also successfully supervised one candidate for M.phil and 4 for M.Sc dissertation and presently supervising 2 Ph.D students. Apart from her teaching experience in the Centre under school of Environmental Studies, Dr. Chirashree Ghosh has teaching affiliation with the Department of Environmental Biology and Shaheed Rajguru college, University of Delhi as a visiting faculty. She has been invited as a guest speaker in the Second General Assembly of Third World Woman in Science (TWOWS) at University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1999.  She has published several research publications along with author a chapter in one book (Please write to her if you would like to have copies of her publications). In addition to being member / life member of number of professional bodies, she is one of the editor of the journal “ Pollution Research”.
