Research at CALTS

• At the Centre of Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies or CALTS, Hyderabad, I was a junior (and later, senior) research fellow from 1990-93. My PhD research topic was: A Computational Study of Transitivity (see abstract below). The thesis was completed in 1995 with the Probal Dasgupta as the supervisor and was examined by Barbara Lust of Cornell University and A. Amritavalli of EFLU (formerly CIEFL).

• The Badge Phrase story of DPs in Bangla was first presented in 1992 and has since triggered many dissertations on DPs in Indian languages.
